Teaching ways to a healthy diet – Professionalization in the context of sustainable health education in Zanzibar

In this research project, Mobile afya is used as a sustainable means to provide information to the community. The project was prompted and is led by Saskia Tenberg who is pursuing her Ph.D. in biology didactics at the University of Bremen in collaboration with the State University of Zanzibar-School of Health and Medical Sciences, and Leibniz Institute for Prevention Research and Epidemiology (BIPS).

Impact evaluation of Mobile Afya application among its users in rural Tanzania

Ann-Charline Weber, a researcher and doctoral student at the Chair of Development Economics at the University of Göttingen, Germany, inspired this project. She is working on impact evaluations in the area of global health and she appreciates the importance of good data to demonstrate the effect of an intervention and give knowledge to further improve population health. Within this research project we are working hand in hand with our advisors Dr. Mayega Samson, a public health specialist,  Dr. Beno Huglin, a clinical research coordinator at Ifakara Health Institute and Lisa Bogler, another doctorate student from the University of Göttingen, Germany. This is a very exciting project for us as we will be able to learn more about our users’ needs and Mobile afya’s impact.
