
In Tanzania the average is 1 doctor per 20,000 people.
(WHO - World Health Organisation recommends 1 doctor per 1,000 people - Source: Data World Bank). This results to one of the highest global rate of deaths from preventable diseases.
Mobile Afya (mHealth) is an offline mobile application using internet-free USSD technology to provide basic health information and education in local and native languages starting with Swahili in East Africa.
In addition to health information, our app users can call doctors and ask questions or seek consultation about their health and wellbeing. The application works on both feature phones (offline phones) and smart phones.

AWARDS
This February, Mobile Afya won the "2021 Digital innovation in health award" This award recognizes the most impactful innovation that has positively contributed to societal change in the health sector in Tanzania.

SPTA PROGRAM
Mobile Afya has been accepted into the Strategic Partnership Technology in Africa (SPTA) a network of German Development Cooperation with over 200 European companies, opening doors to public-private cooperation between Africa and Europe.

GHF 2022
Mobile Afya participated at the Geneva health forum in May 2022. We were selected to showcase our work through the Innovation fair. Our Abstract paper was accepted as a poster and presented by the author and our CMO Dr. Hilderruth.
